The Neighborhood Grocery Store

The grocery store.

Not only is everything in a different language
but it's also packaged differently most of the time.

And not always in the isle that we think it should be in.

And then you have a different type of currency to deal with at the end.

But it is an adventure...

and bungee jumping sounds a lot scarier!

Ah! Foreign grocery shopping! I still remember the terrifying butcher men as I attempted to find the words for "ground beef." I walked a mile out of the way just to go to the store that sold it preground.

I've shopped in German, Puerto Rico, Barbados and China grocery stores before it's like a game.
You are trying from a picture to figure out what your buying.
The produce department looks beautiful.
I love buying things we don't get in the states and bringing it home.
In Germany their OJ is mixed with sparkling water, in China they have amazing green tea, in Puerto Rico their coffee and spices are awesome and in Barbados they have a relish that is great on fish.
It will be fun to hear about what the Brazilian diet is. I know from my son in law it involves a lot of beef. He also likes their coffee and candy, they also have a soda made out of a fruit we don't have here.
When I was shopping in Germany with out my sister to get her a birthday cake at the bakery I needed to take my 5 year old niece to interpret for me. It was a good thing I had her with me, the baker didn't understand any english or my attempts of sign language of pointing. I told her she was a wonderful interpreter and I couldn't have done it without her. My niece is now a teenager and speaks 4 languages. She's amazing.
